Perseverance in Creativity

In January I declared that this is the year of creativity. If you know me, creativity is not something that naturally fits me but here I was on Christmas day with my wonderful new sister-in-law teaching me how to crochet. This is something I have been wanting to learn but thought I would never be able to do. She started by teaching me just a couple of basic stitches. It was rough going at first but I was determined to learn.
So when Emma is sleeping you’ll most likely find me on the couch, wool in hand practicing my crocheting. My first small project ended up being a scarf for Emma. As you can see from the photos I didn’t always get the count right, but I finished it. The second project was a coffee cozy for my French press.

Always keep your coffee warm people!
One of the things I have learned through the process of crocheting is perseverance. There were many times when I would make a mistake and have to start all over again. But if I ever want to learn a new skill I have to try, try, and try again.
I watched many Youtube tutorial videos on how to crochet, put my head down and carried on.
My current project is a blanket and it’s teaching me patience along with perseverance. I can’t tell you have many times I’ve started and re started it but it will look amazing when it is done. So I’m going to keep on crocheting one stitch at a time. I’ll post a photo when it’s completed in a future blog.
